FORBIDDEN GAMES (Forbidden Games)
Forbidden Games (French: Jeux Interdits) is a French war drama from 1952 directed by René Clément and based on the novel Jeux Interdits by François Boyer. Initially unsuccessful in France, the film was a success elsewhere.
It won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, a special award Best Foreign Language Film in the United States and Best Film from any source at the British Academy Film Awards.
The film received wide acclaim from critics, including the “screams of protest” were heard at the 1952 Cannes Film Festival where this was not an “official entry of France”; instead it was projected on the sidelines of the Competition.
